ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF

More than half of all vehicles, predominantly cars, which enter and leave the UK, pass through ABP’s ports. Roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) cargoes handled at ABP’s ports also include wheeled cargoes and industrial vehicles. ABP has invested greatly to provide the best range of services and well-equipped facilities to handle ro-ro.

In recent years, these investments have included, at Southampton, Empress Terminal and Southampton International Vehicle Terminal; and at Immingham, the DFDS Nordic Terminal. ABP’s ro-ro facilities cater for both deep-sea and short-sea traffic, serviced by a multinational range of liner services.

Customers can expect the following from ABP’s ports:

  • Modern, well-equipped terminals, such as ABP Exxtor Terminal at Immingham, and Queen Elizabeth Dock at Hull – both of which can berth and work vessels alongside lift-on/lift-off operations
  • Extensive facilities for deep-sea and short-sea traffic
  • Regular liner services to and from around the world
  • High-quality, secure, open and covered storage and distribution compounds
  • Specialist stevedoring, handling and distribution services
  • Excellent road, rail, waterborne connections to the UK’s industrial and manufacturing heartlands and markets

Ro-ro services can be accommodated at the following ABP ports:
